Places to go to get hired in tech

I compiled this for a couple of friends, now turning it into a public post for reference. Not an exhaustive list, but include links to services that worked for me or people I knew.

— Hacker News’s famous who is hiring thread. Can be digested also at https://hnhiring.com.

— You can use the who wants to be hired thread to post about yourself and get listed.

Jobs inside YC startups.

— Some postings on the Twitter Tech Jobs community.

VanHack Jobs. The best agency I know, they assist as you progress. Include visa sponsorship positions. (My referral link if you like)

— Brent Ozar posts about who’s hiring in the database community (try to locate a newer one)

— A classic: LinkedIn jobs.

Google Jobs.

— Other directories: http://glassdoor.com, http://indeed.com.

— Recruiting agencies or recruiters: Some actually can help if you manage to get their attention, sometimes free (because they got commissions on hiring), sometimes not. An example is https://searchlabs.ca, I recommend them after a nice experience some relatives and I had with them.

Try to find agencies that are recommended by someone near you. There’re more and more directories, you can try the more rated ones but need to keep them all organized in your records or notes. Also, the companies have usually their job offers in a section of their main website.
