Nils' notes

OTD July 16th

Jeff Jorgensen's dad was an alcoholic, so his mom left him and ended up marrying a Cuban who worked for Exxon, Miguel Bezos. Together they fostered Jeff's interest in technology in the garage of the house, and over time, on a day like today, July 16, Jeff Bezos launched Amazon, a bookstore that over time and the expansion of products to sell online put together his very solid infrastructure to support the avalanche of sales. But he only used most of it on holidays, so it occurred to them to market the rest, becoming the nightmare of VMWare, whose executives became famous for not understanding how digital booksellers unseated them.

“Many times, we will find ourselves with the fact that we have passions and having them is a gift. We don't choose them, they do. But we must be aware of them, we must be looking for them, because they will give us direction and purpose. If someone finds their passion, all the work done won't feel like it." — Jeff Bezos
